Paperclip Messiah: Cast and Crew

Matthew Burlingame Matthew Burlingame (Director/Playwright)- Matthew is well known to Lambda Players' audiences both as a director and playwright and has worked with Lambda Players in one capacity or another for the past 10 years. Directing credits include Hedwig & the Angry Inch, Southern Baptist Sissies, Just Us Girls, The Coming Out Party, and the revivals of Sordid Lives and Opening Lines. His plays, Nine Eleven, Written on the Hill and Countess Dracula were well known audience favorites as well as Paperclip Messiah. He thanks the cast and crew for making him look forward to each rehearsal and for their amazing spirit and cohesiveness. He also thanks Tom, Dave and Kurt for their support behind the scenes, and Clint, Charlie, Eric and his mom for their support in everything.

Ben Clinton Ben Clinton (Nathan/Perry Kleinner/Waiter) - Ben is glad to be back with Lambda Players, his last role being in the holiday musical The Nun crashers. Ben joined the production late in the game but has enjoyed every minute of it. He thanks everyone for an amazing time!

Brian Cowan Brian Cowan (Father David/Voice of Priest) - Brian was literally picked off the street and put on the Lambda Players stage! He has recently returned to California from a year-long stint in West Virginia. Although Brian has not had much theatrical experience, barring minor roles in Kindergarten, he is very pleased to be onstage with the fine actors and actresses of the Paperclip Messiah.

Bethany Hidden-Cauley Bethany Hidden-Cauley (Sister Mary Alice) - Bethany was last seen crying her lil' eyes out in Pensacola (Marie), in Suspects on the Delta King, and performing with the ICUP Comedy Troupe. Her works with Lambda include The Kathy & Mo Show (Mo), Nun Crashers (Sally Anne), Six Women With Brain Death (Woman 4), Carhops In Bondage (Wanda - 2007/2009), Sordid Lives (Bitsy Mae - 2007/2009), The Lambda Christmas Shows (Lucielle Ball - 2007/2008), Sappho In Love (Persuasion), Jeffrey (Debra Moorehouse), Burnt Fields (The Widow), and Hedwig & The Angry Inch at The Crest (Shees Ezzie). Bethany is a Natomas Charter Graduate and works locally in films (Cheerleaders from Hell, Monster from Bikini Beach, Whispers & Shadows, Curse of the Golden Skull, and the upcoming films Doll Squad vs. The Astro Zombies and Planet of the Vampire Women) and television (Cinema Insomnia). She is a long time member of the Trash Film Orgy, and is one of the hosts of the Sacramento Horror Film Festival. She is an avid fan of bad movies, good music, and sleeping in on the weekends. She sends love and thanks to her hubby-love Will.

Brian Judd Brian Judd (Bishop Reeves/Mr. Kleinner/Father) - Brian is thrilled to be performing in the revival of Paperclip Messiah; the show where he made is Sacramento stage premier as chronic teenage onanist Perry Kleiner. In 10 years, Mr. Judd has aged 20 and is now proud to play the Bishop. Brian would like to thank director and playwright, Matthew Burlingame for casting him in a larger role, even though it took 10 years to get it.

Steve Lozano Steve Lozano (Joel) - Steve is honored to be taking part in this production. Born and raised in Sacramento, he began acting in High School. His first role was as Carlino in Wait Until Dark. He attended UCLA, where he earned a degree in World Arts And Cultures. At UCLA he was very active in the Theatre Department, exploring and creating on stage, and working as an Orientation Counselor for all incoming theatre students. This is his fifth production with Lambda Players. Previously he was in Love! Valour! Compassion!, Jeffrey, Romance, and Suddenly Last Summer. He would like to give a special thanks to Matthew for trusting him with this role. He would also like to thank Lambda Players for making him feel welcome from day one. Thanks to his family and friends for their support, and to this talented cast for making this an amazing experience.

Alexandra Ralph Alexandra Ralph (Sister June/Mrs. Kleinner) - graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.A. in Performing Arts. This is her second show with Lambda Players. Previous roles include Bobbi in "Some Girl(s)", Lavinia in "Titus Andronicus", Stella in "A Streetcar Named Desire", Frenchie/Sally Bowles Understudy in "Cabaret", Debbie in "Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical", and Tracy in "Seascape With Sharks and Dancer".

Chad-Jayson Smith Chad-Jayson Smith (Young Patrick) - Chad was born here in Sacramento, but has lived all over the U.S.. He started working with Lambda Players in 2008. His frist roll for the theater was playing J.B. Maddox in "Burnt Fields". His next roll for the theater was playing the over the top Bunny in David Mammets "Romance". He is excited to work on this show, and many more to come!

Steve Thompson Steve Thompson (Father Patrick) - This is Steve's third play for the Lambda Players & he is very happy to return for another show. Steve got his start in acting here at Lambda Players 3 years ago, as Ty in Sordid Lives & reprised the role again 2 years later. He is thrilled to have this opportunity to portray a new character of such depth & emotion, in such an amazing & well written script! Steve would like to thank Matthew Burlingame, for giving him this role & allowing him once again to perform on stage, something he truly enjoys, in his rare moments of free time! He would also like to thank his loving & supportive parents, who have never deterred him from following his dreams. He would especially like to thank his incredible partner of almost seven years, TJ Bruce, for all of his love & support in everything that he does!
