Meet the cast & crew

Eric Baldwin (Joe Pitt, Prior 1) – Eric is an actor/director who has performed across the United States as well as in Europe. Roles include Romeo, Macbeth, Henry V, Cassius in Julius Caesar, Hally in Master Harold and the Boys, Mortimer in Edward II, Demetrius in Titus Andronicus, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, as well as Ralph in Our Country’s Good, for which he received Backstage West’s Garland Award. In Germany, he appeared in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), The Complete History of America (Abridged), and A Midsummer Nights Dream. From 2000 to 2004, Eric was the Artistic Director of Quantum Theatre Company in Los Angeles. Since returning to his hometown of Sacramento, he has appeared as Tony in This Day and Age, followed by Greater Tuna. Eric was last seen as Biff in Death of a Salesman.

Kevin Caravalho (Prior, Man in Park) – This is Kevin’s first show with Lambda and is completely honored to be working with such an amazing cast and crew. Previous credits include Rocky Horror (Frank), Last Five Years (Jamie), Urinetown (Bobby), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour), and Godspell (Jesus). Special thanks to my wife and kids for their undying support! I’m ready for my close up Mr. DeMille...

Jes Gonzales (Roy Cohn) - Jes has been active in community theatre in Sacramento since 1997. He’s a regular in the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival, where his favorite roles include Sir Toby in Twelfth Night, Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing, Porthos in The Three Musketeers, and Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He can be seen frequently at City Theatre, where his most recent role was Mr. Webb in Our Town. Jes has also made at least one appearance at Chatauqua Playhouse, Runaway Stage, California Stage and the Woodland Opera House. This is his first appearance with Lambda Players. After a plethora of comedic roles, Jes is relishing the opportunity to play someone as twisted as Roy Cohn.

Miriam Helilian (Stage Manager) - Mariam has been stage managing regularly in the Sacramento area for over two and a half years now. She is glad to return to the Studio Theatre with Angels in America. Most recently she stage managed Our Town at City Theatre. Mariam is also the Production Stage Manager for the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival. Mariam thanks Brian and the rest of the cast for making this production a lovely, stress-free one.

Maggie Hollinbeck (Harper) - Maggie is beyond thrilled to be a part of this production and honored to be among such talent onstage. Previous local credits include Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd) and Baker’s Wife (Into the Woods) at Runaway Stage, Woman #2 (Closer Than Ever) at the Studio Theatre, and Trina (Falsettos) at Artistic Differences. She also had the great privilege of directing Artistic Differences’ production of HAIR last summer at the Stage. Before moving to Sacramento, Maggie worked professionally on both coasts; favorite roles include Aunt Gert (Lost in Yonkers) at the Barn Theatre, Lavinia/Sharon understudy (Finian’s Rainbow) at Goodspeed Opera House, Mavis Frye (The People vs. Mona – world premiere) at Pasadena Playhouse, and Connie Boylan/Grace Farrell understudy (Annie) in the national tour of the 1997 Broadway revival. Big thanks to Jeremy for his love and support, and to you for supporting local arts!

Eddie Jackon (Belize, Mr. Lies) - Eddie is currently a senior studying Theatre Arts at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). He has appeared in: Of Mice and Men with the Sacramento Theatre Company and Macbeth, Pericles and Doctor in Spite of Himself with the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival at City Theatre. Other appearances include: Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Tartuffe, Suessical the Musical, The Tempest, Wonder of the World, Adult Child/Dead Child and Suzan Lori Park’s 365U, all performed at CSUS. Eddie would like to thank everyone in the cast for giving him a chance to do what he loves best.

Evan Johnson (Louis) - Evan is a graduate of The Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre in Blue Lake, California (2005/2006). He has worked with Double Edge Theatre in Ashfield, Massachusetts as a company Intern (Fall, 2006). He has taught workshops in clowning and physical theatre in Santa Fe, New Mexico as part of Wise Fool’s Circus Camp for Kids. In the Spring of 2007, Evan toured as a Clown and Solo Performer along with members of Wise Fool, to cities in India funded by an Arts Grant from the US Embassy. Locally, Evan won an ELLY Award in 2005 for Best Actor in a Drama for his role in City Theatre’s Equus. Angels in America marks Evan’s third time working with The Lambda Players. He played the role of "Chris" in Trolling and directed Cinderella: The Real True Story in 2004. Evan is happy to be back in Sacramento (since August) and is currently teaching physical theatre classes at Stage Right Studio for the Performing Arts, in Placerville. He is also working on a one-man character piece for Sacramento audiences to be shown in the Spring, based (loosely) on the life of Jeffery Dahmer. Evan would like to thank Brian and the whole cast/crew for this incredible opportunity, and his family for all the support.

Martha Omiyo Kight (Hannah Pitt, Rabbi Isadore Chemelwitz, Dr. Henry, Ethel Rosenberg) - Martha has appeared on Sacramento stages many times in the last three decades in such productions as Twilight of the Golds with Lambda Players, Urinetown the Musical, The Women, I Remember Mama, Top Girls, Blood Brothers, Woody Guthrie’s American Song, Skin of Our Teeth. For two years she has been a Company member at the beautiful Murphys Creek Theatre in Murphys, CA, performing in Twelfth Night, As You Like It, and Humble Boy as well as serving as Props Master there. Martha is also is a founding member of Synergy Stage, with whom she has acted, directed, costumed, built many props and designed graphics. Other favorite roles are the Stage Manager (Narrator) in Our Town, Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman, Rosemary Sidney in Picnic, Emma Goldman in Ragtime, and Gurley: the Two Lives of Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, in which she originated the title role of the play. Brian Rivera (Director) - Brian began acting in Sacramento with the Sinag-Tala Theatrical Revue and the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival, performing several seasons with each, most recently this past summer as MACBETH. He holds a B.A. in Drama from San Francisco State, where he Assistant Directed this play, and he works throughout Northern California. He has toured the state with the San Francisco Mime Troupe in DOING GOOD, and throughout California and France in Word for Word’s IMMORTAL HEART, BACC winner for Best Ensemble & Production, Drama. Many, many thanks to Mariam, the cast, the crew, Lambda Players, the designers and all the volunteers for sacrificing so much time and effort to make this beautiful play a reality. Kira Taylor (Angel, Emily, Sister Ella Chapter, Homeless Woman) - Kira is a theatre major at Sacramento State. This is her first production with the Lambda Players. She had been in several shows with City Theatre in recent years, including Carnival, Comic Potential, Ah Wilderness!, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Marisol. Last summer she was seen as Dromio of Syracuse in Sacramento Shakespeare Festival’s production of The Comedy of Errors and she spent one year with the American River Dance Company. Kira is thrilled to be a part of this production.
